The following is the campaign statement that I provided to the Election Committee. It is limited to 200 words. For more, please see the My Vision page.
Mensa is an ever-changing organization. It is only as strong as its members and their engagement. I believe that for members to be engaged in a group, they need to be aware of what is happening on multiple levels in the organization. As Mensans, we know we’re smart, but if our members do not understand or have not been told why and how a decision was reached, they tend to think of board members as the ominous THEM who make not-smart decisions. I believe that I could do an exceptional job of communicating our financial standing to members as well as explaining what it actually means to those who are not fluent in accounting or finance terms. If elected, I plan to continue to serve as an able communicator both to my fellow members and to other members of the AMC in an effort to facilitate the best possible outcomes for this fantastic organization.
